On the Radar NOW

In fashion today, we are seeing the clean, cold classic lines of the 70′s

Think Charlie Girl, Network, Klute, or The Eyes of Laura Mars.

Sexy, elegant, strong classics.

This is a girl who works, who strides across city streets,

who paves her own way and tosses her hair back with pride as she goes.

She’s tough, she’s ballsy. She drinks scotch on the rocks.

She takes whom ever she wants to bed, and she leaves before he wakes.

Her feelings are not part of her agenda.

We are also seeing the soft lines of the romantic girl.

Bias cuts, chiffons, ruffles, flutter sleeves, low draping backs, transparency and that damn strap that keeps falling off the shoulder. Ooops.

This is a girl who drapes herself across a divan,

Who sleeps in the dell and waits for fairies to come.

She is soft and dreamy albeit a little lazy.

Her man is an artist and plays guitar for her while she gently weeps on his knee.

When she has to get something done, she put on a pair of combat boots to tread through the meadow.

You’ll find her at her best at Coachella, but any other day she may be found crying on her bathroom floor.

Ahh, the extremes.

We are all a bit of both of these women and on some days,

when we feel very clear about this fact we may wear the two in conjunction.

The tailored jacket will strengthen the diaphanous dress,

the bit of leather will make sure ‘they’ know you still can call the shots if you have to.

We can call it “tough and tender”, or “leather and lace”, or “bride and groom”.

Basically it is us saying, “I got both bases covered pal.

I can play both roles if you don’t step up.”
